What is a "vegan"?

A vegan is a person who abstains from the use of any animal product, including:

-Beef, pork, poultry, seafood, dairy, eggs and honey (food);
-Fur, wool, down, silk and leather (clothing/material).

Most vegans will also abstain from the use of items or products that are or were tested on animal subjects in labs, such as:

-Cosmetics tested on animals;
-Products sold by companies that test on animals;

Vegans will often choose to boycott corporations and industries that profit from the exploitation of animals, including:

-Investment banks and firms that profit from stock in companies that exploit animals in any of the aforementioned ways;
-Commercial products that endorse cruelty or exploitation, such as Corona (bullfighting) and Dodge/Chrysler (rodeo),
-Stores that sell fur and other heinous products, such as Saks 5th Avenue and Neiman Marcus;
-Restaurants that sell/serve veal or fois gras;
