On October 17, 2003, Roy Leon Thompson, 63, was arrested for killing 2 four week old puppies by "throwing them up against a wall, several times" (quoted from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's report).  Apparently, Mr. Thompson was going to sell these puppies to make some money, but these two unfortunate pups just didn't "look Rottweiler enough" for him.  Mr. Thompson sits in jail for 2 counts of felony animal cruelty for his heinous actions, in lieu of $10,000.00 bond.  Let's see to it that he stays there.

Please ask that Roy Thompson be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and if found guilty, that he:
1.          Be handed the most severe penalty allowed by law;
2.          Undergo a court mandated psychiatric evaluation;
3.          Attend anger management classes;
4.          Be enjoined from ever having/being in possession of animals of any kind, ever again.

Remember, these puppies were only 4 weeks old, and absolutely defenseless.  He had other options to slowly and brutally killing these puppies.  VOCAL believes that due to the severity and callousness of his crimes, his neighbors deserve to be warned that they have a potential sociopath in their midst.

Death Of 2 Puppies Leads To Abuse Charges

Published: Oct 21, 2003

TAMPA - A man killed two mixed-breed puppies because they didn't look enough
like Rottweilers to sell for a decent profit, Hillsborough County sheriff's
officials said Monday.
Roy Thompson, 63, of 2405 67th St. S. is accused of killing the 4-week-old
dogs by throwing them against a wall several times at his home Friday,
officials said.

He is charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty, each punishable by
up to five years in prison.

Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Rod Reder said Thompson wanted to get rid of the
puppies.

``He didn't feel like he could sell them for what he wanted,'' Reder said.
``They were mixed. They didn't look Rottweiler enough.''

Hillsborough County Animal Services took the puppies' mother and her three
surviving pups, Reder said.

Thompson is being held at Orient Road Jail on $10,000 bail.
