Thank you for making the option of adoption! As you probably already know, roughly 10 million companion animals will be euthanized in our nation's shelters this year. That number is completely unacceptable. To combat this daily tragedy, one must do 3 things:
1. Spay or neuter your pets, as well as the pets of folks you know; 2. Adopt your next companion from a shelter, rescue or other organization; 3. Speak up! Be vocal to those that might choose to breed or buy while homeless animals die!
If you are interested in adoption one of the VOCAL's fosters from the Starfish Sanctuary, please fill out the application below. It is in the form of a Microsoft Word document. Please fill it out as completely as you are able. If you have any questions, please contact us. Our adoption fee is $95, and that covers the spay/neuter, shots/vaccines, initial vet check, and any other procedure the animal might need. We don't up our adoption fees to cover heartworm or other ailments.
Though this application may seem a little...intrusive, please understand that our interest is the animal's best interest. We are trying to find a good home for a companion that probably hasn't seen the best times in his or her life thus far. We are somewhat strict. We have a few rules:
--All animals are spayed/neutered. No exceptions, so please don't ask; --Homechecks are required for all animals; --None of our adoptive animals are to be "outside" animals; --We will follow up to make sure everything is working out with the new family
Please don't take these things as insults. Considering where many of our animals come from, we treat them a little bit special.
Before adopting, please take your financial and time management issues to heart. A companion animal deserves your love, attention and time. A companion animal will also require trips to the veterinarian, food, toys, bedding, and various other material things. If you don't have the time, or if you don't have the financial resources to care for a companion animal, please consider a nice houseplant. You certainly don't have to be rich, or even well-off, but remember, a dog or a cat is an additional drain on the finances. A very worthwhile one, but a drain nonetheless. |

Be a whisper or be a scream...just be a voice. Be vocal. |
