Zen was adopted by VOCAL co-founders Chad and Angi in November of 2000. He was on his second tour of the local shelter scene, having been thrown away the first time at Animal Services (likely for his size), and the second time at the local humane society (he "kept getting in the pool"). Although the shelter folks were very nice to Zen, he wasn't happy. Zen suffered from serious separation anxiety, and as a big, playful dane mix, he broke things. Maybe he wasn't terribly "adoptable". Maybe Zen just needed some love, attention and training...
Zen is a happy boy. He loves people, kids and playing with his furry friends and sanctuary mates. Zen wants to build a place where all dogs, cats and other animals can go if they've been abused, neglected, or otherwise misunderstood. Zen dreams of a place where these animals get the care and attention they need while they wait for a chance at a new home. "Bring your misfits, your "too old" and your "unadoptable". Bring your unwanted and unloved.", he says (or woofs).
The Zen's Friends Fund has been set up to receive donations that will build this sanctuary. Be a friend to Zen, as well as all the animals that need "a little something extra". Help us help them, and be a part of making this happen.
