The Flyer, a local free mailing rag that sells just about anything that a person can put a price on, has a policy that ads for items under $300 can be placed for free, unless those "items" are plants or animals. For a free ad to rid oneself of an animal, the animal must be offered for free.
Please ask The Flyer to reconsider that offer. Suggest that The Flyer might consider a monetary "donation fee" be applied to any companion animal needing rehoming ($50 or so) to weed out the bunchers and collectors that might seek to send Fido to the local research lab, or use Fifi to train his fighting pit bulls on. The Flyer might also consider an educational notice alerting folks to the reality behind some "Free To Good Home" ad results. The Tampa Tribune has one, and all publications should consider following suit.
